-I value knowledge as a way to gain lifelong skills and illuminate me in areas of interest while contributing to quality of life, self-realization, and transcendence.
-I value learning. Is it essential for me that I have new learning experiences that challenge and excite me. It is essential that my learning and work reflects my interests, and values. When this occurs I find joy, meaning and purpose in my life.
-I value fairness. I treating others the way I would like to be treated. I think this is the underlying value that allows me to feel I am being a ‘good’ person. Then I can celebrate the opportunity to become a better person every day in my work and personal life by maintaining this value.
-I value freedom of thought as we become what we think as our thoughts shape our actions. By having a clearer view of what I value, I feel I will attract and connect with others who hold similar values. Then there will be more opportunity to take action and make positive life changes for myself, others, and the environment.
-I value prayer, positive affirmations, and meditation. My experience has been that positive affirmations, mantras and prayer have the power to focus the mind and heal the heart when based on what is meaningful. I regularly practice this and feel it is useful when helping others.
-I value diversity. I honour and celebrate the similarities and differences that we all share. I see value in blending philosophies of the east and west into theory and practice.
-I value balance in personal and work life. Striving for balance and quality of life is a ‘work- life’ goal.

virtue of character...
When I think about being successful in my career life and as a person it brings to mind people I feel have great leadership through virtue of character. I respect and value as a role model for my career and aspects of their life career example that I would like to emulate.
There was an eHealth doctor that I worked for at the University Calgary named Dr. Scott. I looked up to him as a role model due to his virtue of character.
During this time, he gave me an opportunity to do research and gain new skills and he kindly acknowledged my contributions in these areas. He supported my continuing education efforts and career goals at the time by acting as a referee, providing resume feedback, acting as a reference, and by being non-judgmental, down-to-earth, and caring. He listened and gave thoughtful responses and contributed exceptional work in research and training at the university and globally. He showed his ongoing commitment to others in the workplace, in the community and to his family on a regular basis and in a kind balanced manner. He did not boss people and negate their efforts but led by example and provided positive, constructive feedback. He sought to have clear expectations and to have high expectations of others.
He did not compromise his values in the work place or in his personal life. He showed great compassion, kindness and strength as a leader. I would like to be supportive and kind to others and contribute to society in a positive way as he did while still maintaining a humble and down-to-earth appreciation for life, and family. I would like to emulate similar values as his when working with others and while making career choices as he displayed great virtue of character and encouraged those around him to do the same.
